About Us

COVR Medical is dedicated to raising the standard of care for patient privacy and dignity in hospitals and surgery centers world-wide through the design of medical garments that provide patient privacy and dignity, while still allowing medical professionals with the necessary access to perform the procedure.

 

COVR Medical is a for-profit, limited liability company, organized under the laws of the state of Minnesota and based in the city of Rochester, Minnesota. The company was co-founded by Dr. Bruce Levy and Heather Levy and was formed in collaboration with Mayo Clinic Ventures, a program designed to promote employee entrepreneurship and to support development of proprietary inventions and technologies that advance patient care.

Core Team

Bruce Levy, MD. Founder & CEO - Board Member

Dr. Bruce Levy is an Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Surgeon at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN, one of the top-ranked orthopedic hospitals in the world. He completed his Fellowship at the Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center, his Orthopedic Surgical Residency at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education; and his Medical Degree at the University of Montreal. Dr. Levy is a Professor of Orthopedics, a published expert in knee and hip arthroscopy, a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Heather Levy, BA. Co-Founder & President - Board Member

Heather is an experienced Medical Device executive, having worked for companies that distributed product lines from Arthrex, Tornier, and VQ Orthocare. She has served on the Board of Directors for Ontario Refrigeration, a multi-million-dollar company, and her business acumen and sales capabilities have been recognized through the achievement of multiple “Sales Agent of the Year” and other business awards. Heather is a graduate from the University of Southern California.

Romeo Catracchia, MBA. - Board Member

Romeo is an experienced life-science business leadership executive and has held titles of CEO, President, General Manager, and Global Business Leader with Medical / Surgical companies such as Autonomus Medical Technologies, Smith & Nephew, Medtronic, and Ansell International. As a consultant, Romeo has partnered with numerous Medical Device Start-Ups and Venture Capitalists in the development of business strategy and in support of early commercialization efforts. Romeo earned an MBA from McGill University.

Laura Snow, National Sales Manager - US Market

Laura is an award-winning Orthopaedic and Trauma Sales Management executive having served with Baxter Healthcare, DePuy Synthes (Johnson & Johnson) and Zimmer Biomet, over her 40-year career.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri State University. She is also an instructor and coordinator for the “Study of Internal Fixation”, having educated hundreds of surgeons, PA’s, and nurses though hands-on sawbone and cadaveric labs.

Richard Robin, MBA, National Sales Manager - Europe Market

Richard has been a medical device commercial consultant for Europe since 2001. In that capacity, he has assisted many companies set-up successful businesses in the EMEA region including: Okamoto Industries Japan, West Medical USA, and Nichiban Japan. Before consulting, Richard was a Senior Vise President and Regional Director for Ansell Healthcare where he successfully reshaped their medical division. Richard is graduate in Biology and Biochemistry from University Paul Sabatier Toulouse France and hold a MBA from Melbourne Business School Australia.

Consultants

Jim Sparks, MBA, Chief Financial Officer

As a Principal of AVL Growth Partners, Jim provides fractional CFO services to COVR Medical. Jim has over 15 years of financial experience and has served in leadership roles at companies ranging from small privately held firms to large multi-nationals. He was the Chief Financial Officer for Newscycle Solutions, a software provider for the global news media industry. Previously, he was Vice President of Finance at UnitedHealth Group where he held a variety of financial and M&A integration leadership positions. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Madison and earned an MBA from Yale University.

Russ Davies, Regulatory and Quality Systems Consultant

Russ is a consultant to the medical device industry and has broad global regulatory and quality compliance experience. He has held senior executive roles in BOC Ohmeda and Smiths Medical in the EU and USA for over 30 years. Under his leadership, he has developed and implemented enterprise-wide quality and regulatory systems and established world-class teams that have maintained an excellent compliance record and reputation with regulatory agencies around the world.

Russ and his family are currently located in St Paul, Minnesota. Russ is a mechanical engineer by training and holds an MBA from the Open Business School in the UK.

Scientific Advisors

Sanjay Misra, MD, Scientific Advisory Board Member

Dr. Misra is a Vascular and Interventional Radiologist and a Professor of Radiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He is a graduate of Drexel University and Hahnemann University and completed his residency at Presbyterian Medical Center in Pennsylvania, and Fellowship at The John Hopkins Hospital.

Naveen S. Murthy, MD, Scientific Advisory Board Member

Dr. Murthy is a Musculoskeletal Radiologist and Associate Professor of Radiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Murthy graduated from University of Minnesota Medical School. He also completed his surgical internship and most of his orthopaedic surgery residency before his true passion in Radiology, all at the University of Minnesota. He then went to the Mayo Clinic for his musculoskeletal radiology fellowship and was awarded a Mayo Clinic Scholar.

Steven L. Moran, MD, Scientific Advisory Board Member

Dr. Moran is the Chair of the Division of Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery and the Surgical Director of Hand Transplantation at the Mayo Clinic’s Essam and Dalal Obaid Center for Reconstructive Transplant Surgery. Dr. Moran focuses on the use of regenerative medicine for reconstruction of skin and tendon defects, vascularized composite allotransplantation of the hand and face, as well as the cause and treatment of wrist arthritis. He is on the Advisory Council of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Founding Member and Board Member of The American Society for Reconstructive Transplantation. He is a graduate of the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, the University of Rochester School of Medicine, and Williams College.

Matthew Gettman, MD, Scientific Advisory Board Member

Dr. Gettman is an urologist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He received his medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University and has been in practice for more than 20 years. He completed his surgical residency and urological residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and fellowships at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (Urology, Minimally Invasive Surgery), the University of Innsbruck (Urology, Laparoscopic Oncology and Robotics), and the University De Creteil – Paris Hospital Henri Mondor (Urology, Laparoscopy and Robotics).

Jonathan T. Finnoff, MD, Scientific Advisory Board Member

Dr. Finnoff is a physiatrist and currently the Chief Medical Officer of the US Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs. Previously, he worked at the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center at the Mayo Square in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received his medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed his internship at Delaware Valley Medical Center, residency at the University of Utah, and fellowship at the Mayo School of Graduate Medicine Education. A Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Finnoff is also the head team physician of the US Nordic Combined Ski Team, on the Board of Directors of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and a leading researcher of musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided interventional procedures and sports concussion identification and management.

Rob Levy, BComm, Business Advisory Board Member

Rob is the president and founder of Brandfire Marketing Group – a integrated full service marketing agency with a focus on brand creation, brand building, retail marketing and advertising. Rob and his team work with prestigious brands for corporate customers such as Toyota, General Mills, The Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group, Wal-Mart, and Mattel. For a second year in a row, Profit 500 Magazine listed Brandfire as one of the fastest growing companies in Canada.

Kevin Hovde, MBA, PMP, Business Advisory Board Member

Kevin is a Sr. Project Manager in the Center for Innovation (CFI) at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He holds an MBA and is PMP certified. Kevin previously worked as an Asset Administrator for Surgical Services coordinating facility planning, construction, and oversight of their project management team. Kevin also held the Operations Manager role in Surgery where he partnered with physician and administrative leaders to enhance practice operations, manage supply related costs, and lead surgical supply standardization. Kevin has a strong knowledge of hospital operations, project management, supply chain management, and cost containment efforts within healthcare.

Alain Tranchemontagne, MBA, Business Advisory Board Member

Alain joined HydroCision, Inc. as CEO in February 2019.  He has since led its growth in the sports medicine sector, driven improved profitability, and orchestrated its entry into new markets.  Prior to joining HydroCision, Alain spent more than 20 years in the medical device sector delivering results for Fortune 500 and start-ups alike.  Most of this time was spent in global roles igniting growth and steering innovation.

Dr, Michael Rock - MD, Business Advisory Board Member

Michael Rock, MD was the Chief Medical Officer for Mayo Enterprise Hospitals.  He serves as a Consultant to the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo; is a Professor of Orthopedics at the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic; and has teaching/examining privileges in Biomedical Engineering at Mayo Graduate School.

Dr. Rock served as Chair of Mayo’s Financial Analysis and Performance Committee and the Finance Committee.  He also served as a member of the Mayo Rochester Executive Board, Rochester Executive Operations Team and Midwest Executive Operations Team.   He also served on the Enterprise Payment Reform Committee and its Executive Council.  He is a member of Mayo’s Government Relation’s Board, which seeks to increase dialogue among national stakeholders to improve the health care delivery of the country.

Dr. Rock was an active member with the American Hospital Association (AHA) Section for Health Care Systems since 2003 and served as Chair in 2008.  He was also a member of the AHA Board of Trustees from 2010-2012 and AHA Executive Committee from 2011-2012.   Doctor Rock was Chairman of the AHA Physician Leadership Forum Advisory Committee and continues as a member of the Clinical Leadership Committee.   In addition, Dr. Rock served on the AHA Long-Range Policy Committee in 2008 and was Chair of the AHA Leadership Council in 2009.  He assumed the role of Chair of the AHA Health Research and Educational Trust Board of Trustees in 2013 and served as a Co-Chair of  AHA Committee on Research and Committee on Performance Improvement in 2015.

Ron Barth, Business Advisory Board Member

Ron Barth is a recently retired executive with 35 years of experience in the medical device field.  Most recently, Ron was Executive Vice President for Medline Industries and he remains a Board Member there today.  Prior to his role as Executive Vice President and Board Member, Ron served as Group President in charge of several of the Medline’s business units. Prior to Medline, Ron held various positions as vice-president with Ansell Healthcare and Smith & Nephew.

Andrea is currently the Administrator for The Office of Patient Experience at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Prior to her current role, she was an Operations Manager in Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic for more than 7 years.  She holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from The University of Minnesota, School of Public Health and a Bachelors in Communication from The University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire.  Andrea has a passion for continuous improvement and patient-centered care with a focus on building relationships and redesigning the human experience in healthcare.
